Cassette air conditioners are a popular solution for commercial and residential spaces with suspended ceilings. They provide uniform air distribution throughout the room, take up minimal space, and operate virtually silently. However, proper installation of a cassette air conditioner is key to its efficient operation and durability.

Cassette air conditioners are a popular solution for commercial and residential spaces with suspended ceilings. They provide uniform air distribution throughout the room, take up minimal space, and operate virtually silently. However, proper installation of a cassette air conditioner is key to its efficient operation and durability.

Preparing for installation

Before you begin installing your cassette air conditioner, there are a few preparatory steps you need to take.

Determining the installation location

The installation location of the cassette air conditioner should be chosen so that the air is distributed evenly throughout the entire room. Usually, this is the central part of the room, which allows the air conditioner to service the entire area without “dead zones”. It is also important to consider that cassette air conditioners are installed in suspended ceilings, and for this, there must be sufficient space between the main and suspended ceilings – usually about 30-40 cm.

Preparation of holes and communications

Before installing the air conditioner, it is necessary to think in advance about the locations for laying pipelines, electrical cables, and drainage systems. It is also necessary to organize access for servicing the unit in the future. Drainage should be laid with a slight slope to remove condensate.

Checking fasteners

The ceiling on which the indoor unit of the cassette air conditioner will be mounted must be strong enough to support the weight of the device. For this purpose, special fasteners are used that fix the air conditioner to the ceiling. If necessary, additional supports can be installed to strengthen the structure.

Installation of the indoor unit

After preparing all the necessary holes and communications, you can begin installing the indoor unit.

Mounting the unit to the ceiling

The cassette air conditioner is mounted directly into the suspended ceiling using brackets or mounting plates. It is important to ensure that the unit is installed level and securely fastened to avoid vibrations and noise during operation. It is recommended to use a building level for this purpose.

Connecting pipes and drainage system

After the indoor unit is installed, it is necessary to connect the refrigerant circulation pipes and the drainage system for condensate removal. The refrigerant pipes must be laid with minimal bends and protection from mechanical damage. A special flexible pipe is used for drainage, which is connected to the water drainage system.

Electrical connection

Electrical cables must be connected to the indoor unit for it to operate. It is important to use cables of the appropriate cross-section that can withstand the required load. To protect against voltage surges, it is recommended to use a voltage stabilizer or circuit breaker.

Installation of the outdoor unit

After installing the indoor unit of the cassette air conditioner, it is necessary to install the outdoor unit.

Space for outdoor unit

The outdoor unit should be installed in a well-ventilated location, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. It is important that the space around the unit is free, which will ensure air circulation and prevent the system from overheating. It is also necessary to provide protection from precipitation and possible mechanical damage.

Fastening the outdoor unit

The outdoor unit is usually mounted on the wall of the building using special brackets or installed on the ground on a concrete platform. It is important that the unit is installed level and on a stable base to avoid vibrations and noise during operation.

Connecting pipes and electricity

After installing the outdoor unit, it is necessary to connect the pipelines for refrigerant circulation between the indoor and outdoor units. The pipes must be insulated with a special material to prevent heat loss and condensation. Also, electrical cables are connected to the outdoor unit, which must be protected from moisture and mechanical damage.

Evacuation and refrigerant filling

Once all the pipes are connected, a vacuuming process must be carried out. This removes air and moisture from the system, which can damage the compressor or reduce the efficiency of the air conditioner. Special vacuum equipment is used for this. The vacuuming process takes about 30-60 minutes, depending on the length of the pipes.

After vacuuming, the system is filled with refrigerant. The amount of refrigerant must be accurately calculated by the length of the pipelines and the characteristics of the air conditioner. Insufficient or excessive refrigerant may cause the system to operate incorrectly.

Setup and testing

After the installation is complete, you need to configure the system and check its operation.

Checking all connections

At this stage, it is important to ensure that all pipe and cable connections are securely fastened and to check the tightness of the system. If all connections are made correctly, the system can be started.

Testing the work

After turning on the air conditioner, you need to check its operation in all modes – cooling, heating, and ventilation. It is important to make sure that the air is distributed evenly, that there is no extraneous noise or vibration, and that the system effectively removes condensation.

Thus, the installation of a cassette air conditioner is a complex process that requires precision and professionalism. The efficiency of the system and its durability depend on the correct choice of location, installation, and connection of all components. It is recommended to entrust the installation to qualified specialists who have experience in installing climate control equipment and can guarantee a high-quality result.
